Introduction to Beekeeping

This is a one-session overview of keeping bees with brief presentations about the time, commitment and financial considerations involved with the hobby. We will review the equipment necessary to establish your own hive and options for placement of hives at various locations. Seasonal management of hives, pests and diseases of the hive and products of the hive will be discussed. This is an interactive program with time for questions and answers.

Knitting Basics 11/4

Ideal for beginning knitters or those who'd like to refresh their skills after a long absence. Casting on, ending a project and learning how to repair mistakes will be covered, as well as mastery of the basic knit and purl stitches, which are the foundation of all knitting. All levels of ability are welcome! Bring size 7 knitting needles, 1 Supersaver Red heart yarn (7 ounces) -a light color, 1 small pair of scissors and a tape measure. First session would be slippers or mittens. No class 11/11.
Level 5: Fleece Mittens with Elastic

Experience sewing with fleece by making a pair of warm mittens for yourself or someone you love. You will learn to insert elastic into the mittens, keeping them snug. Bring to class two fleece fabrics (1/3 yard each) or one fleece fabric and one minky type fabric for a super soft and snuggly lining.
Lidded Sewing Basket

This quaint basket would make a very special gift if you can give it up. Though it is designed as a sewing basket, it makes a lovely basket to hold whatever needs a hiding place. There are several techniques used in this basket. It measures about 8" in diameter. A material fee of $20 is payable to instructor in class.
Live Edge Resin Ocean Painting

Create a dramatic ocean/beach scene using 2 part epoxy resin and pigments on a piece of live edge wood in this class that is perfect for everyone from absolute beginners to experienced artists. No artistic experience is necessary. Resin is messy so wear old clothes and tie back your hair if necessary. Pieces can be left to dry and picked up later, or you can elect to take the item home in a container provided. Materials fee of $35 payable to instructor the night of class.
