Beginner & Intermediate Acrylic Painting

$68

with Sheila Clough

Oct 16, 2017 at 9 am, runs for 4 weeks

Beginner through intermediate acrylic artists, this is the class for you! This individualized class will get you started right away!  Bring your materials and a reference photograph of what you would like to paint.  A simple landscape or still life is a great choice for beginners.

Materials:

The difference between professional level paint and student grade is both price and quality.  While you pay less for student grade, they contain less pigment so you end up using more.  If you are a beginner and are unsure if you will continue painting after this class, student grade paints should be fine.  If you are an intermediate student attempting to get to the next level, it might be time to add some professional paints to your paint box. All brands of acrylics will mix with each other so you can replace your paints as necessary.

Paints: Heavy Body artists acrylics in tubes, not decorative painting acrylics

There are several different size sets of artist acrylic paints available with colors that are selected to work well together.  You could purchase a set or simply buy tubes individually.  The following colors would be a good start: cadmium yellow, yellow ochre, cadmium red, alizarin crimson, ultramarine blue, cerulean blue and titanium white.

White Gesso (optional)

Acrylic medium (optional)

Canvas: canvas board, canvas paper or stretch canvas, individual choice size 8x10 or 9x12

Pallet: pallet paper pad would work for a beginner.  I use a Masterson's Sta-Wet painter's pal and love it!

Brushes:  I like Artist's Loft professional level brushes at Michaels     Round 2,6,8 and Flat 2,6,8

Container for Water, paper towels, trash bag or plastic to cover table
