Our community needs individuals who want to make a difference in a child's life.
Maine Children with intellectual challenges, autism, and mental health disorders, as well as their families, depend on Children's Behavioral Health Services, and there is a huge need in our area! A Certified Behavioral Health Professional (BHP) is an essential member of a child's treatment team and has the chance to have an instant influence while assisting children in reaching their full potential.
We are thrilled to provide this fantastic Blended training to our community. You will be equipped to work with children who need services, while preparing yourself for employment with local social service agencies and/or school programs. Start whenever you choose, and go at your own pace. You have 6 months from your registration day to complete the course.
You will complete 12 online modules, then participate in two Live sessions: BHP Live Day (8 - 9 hours offered in-person or virtually) and Ethical Considerations (2.5 hours offered virtually). You will also receive a stipend to obtain Child & Adult First Aid/CPR Certification and free online training in blood-borne pathogens. Our free remote training program can get you certified and started in a career that will change your life in just 40 hours.
Required: Must be a Maine resident and at least 18 years old with a high school diploma or equivalent to become certified. The state also requires that you take an in-person cpr/first aid class. The cost of up to $100 will be reimbursed once you have completed the American Red Cross or American Heart Saver Course. Woodfords CPR/FA classes in Westbrook, Manchester and Brewer are free for all workforce learners.
Jeffrey Carpenter, Workforce Recruitment Specialist for the State of Maine's Office of Child and Family Services through Woodfords Family Services, is here to help you through the learning opportunity by providing answers to questions and assistance with technical issues, should any arise. He is also a resource to connect you with service agencies once you have completed the training.
CPR & BLS (Advanced)

CPR and BLS (Basic Life Support) This is an advanced course for people in public service as a paid or volunteer first rsponder. Enhance your basic CPR and AED skills learning how to better manage breathing, airways and drug overdoses. Course meets requirements for first responders, lifeguards and others who may need or want more advanced medical training. Course fee includes American Heart Association CPR card. (This instructor is AHA and ASHI Certified)
There is a $75 materials fee for pocket mask, book, and specific card to this class.

CPR Heartsaver & First Aid
with Jayne Perkins
Acquire the critical skills needed to respond to and manage a first aid, choking, or sudden cardiac arrest until emergency medical services arrive. Learn to treat bleeding, sprains, broken bones, and other first-aid emergencies. CPR and AED for Adults, Children, and infants. Certification is good for 2 years and meets most requirements for advisors, camp counselors, and basic care providers. The course fee includes American Heart Association CPR card. (This instructor is AHA and ASHI Certified).
There is a $40 materials fee for pocket mask, book, and specific card to this class.

Dental Assisting with RHS National Competency (SELF-PACED)

This 12-week all-inclusive Certificate Program in Dental Assisting is one of the most high-demand careers. This program is designed to teach all aspects of dental assisting and provide you with the skills you need to work in this field and pass a national certificate exam. This program is taught by a Dentist and includes an opportunity for internships. We can now offer an option for Lab days, please ask for more details! The price of the course includes all books, exam preparation materials, and fees for the DANB RHS certificate program. Upon passing the DANB RHS, you will receive a certificate of knowledge based on competency for that component from DANB.

This 20-week, in-depth medical coding for CPC certification through AAPC. This program is designed to teach all aspects of medical coding, providing you with the skills needed to become nationally certified and to get into the job market as a Certified Professional Coder. This certificate program includes Medical Terminology, Anatomy and Physiology, 2 CPC-A exam attempts, AAPC membership, 3 practice CPC tests, and all books. Basic computer skills are required. $3,950; Adding Practicode (6 - 10 - week online program) will remove the apprenticeship designation from the CPC Credential; $5,150. Payment plans available.

- This program will be held once a week for 20 weeks. Upon completion of the program, you will sit for your CPC national certification which is included in tuition. Your title will be a CPC-A, for the first year; CPC-A means you will be considered a certified coder with an Apprentice designation for one year. Once you have worked for a year, you will have your Apprentice title removed and be an official CPC! This program consists of Medical Terminology/Anatomy for ICD-10 and Medical Coding curriculum.

Medical Office Specialist (2 programs) with Medical Coding and CMAA National Certification (SELF-PACED)

This course track combines two programs: Medical Administrative Assistant with Billing, as well as, Medical Coding with CPC-A, leaving you with 2 national certifications. It also includes our programs at a discounted rate. The Medical Professional courses are designed to be completed one after the other; course timing will be coordinated with you by our Education Advisors.

Medical Office Specialist (CMAA National Certification) (SELF-PACED)

Classes are held once a week for 2 hours via Zoom and are recorded. You may choose to attend the course Live via Zoom or Self-paced by watching the recorded classes; both program options have instructor support. You will learn HIPAA compliance and health information in the medical office, insurance and billing procedures, financial and practice management, and administrative duties. In addition, we take you through the “virtual medical office” which allows you to practice “real” medical office skills before entering the workforce.
$3,200 includes National Certification, all books, fees, and resume and job assistance.
