This course is an online course.

Turn dictated medical information into typed records through the use of various types of equipment (micro-cassette recorders, Wav files, telephone systems and C-phones).  Receive verbal information and type that it into a word processing program accurately, using the format specified by the provider (SOAP notes, discharge summaries, and other report forms).  Basic computer skill is a must, as are basic typing skills and knowledge of commonly used word processing programs.  Most doctors or transcription companies ask for a minimum of 60 WPM.  Many employers now use the Internet, which gives you the opportunity to work from home without having to drop off and pick up tapes.

This is an online course.

This 14-week program prepares you to pass the certification exam.  This program is active for one year from date of activation, allowing time to complete the program and to review for the exam.  Pharmacy techs help with day-to-day services (preparing meds, answering phones, receiving and verifying prescriptions, counting tablets, taking refill requests, and much more).  Excellent communication skills and customer service are essential.  You must have the ability to learn and retain procedural processes and apply them quickly and accurately.  Learn one-on-one with an instructor (with constant contact) as you go through your weekly assignments.

Legal Nurse Consultant Training Course

This exciting program prepares medical professionals for a career in the legal field as legal nurse consultants. Building on your medical education and possible clinical experience, this course provides nurses with fundamental skills necessary to advise law firms, health care providers, insurance companies, and governmental agencies regarding medically related issues and to appear in court as expert witnesses. The course teaches legal concepts related to the health care industry, as well as the role a legal nurse consultant might play in litigation areas such as medical malpractice, toxic torts, product liability, personal injury, wrongful death, criminal law, and workers’ compensation. Any nurse interested in entering the legal field can benefit from the education provided by this course. The course is also open to anyone interested in the field of forensic testimony and medical-legal issues, but participants without an nursing background might not be able to take the LNCC exam after graduation. Legal Nurse Consultant Certified (LNCC) is a discretionary test separate from this training course that experienced registered nurses graduating from this course may decide to sit for. LNCC test eligibility requirements are discussed during this training course; however, nurses graduating from this course need not take the LNCC in order to practice as legal nurse consultants.

This nursing continuing professional development activity was approved by the Colorado Nurses Association, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation. 

Successful graduates will receive a certificate for 42 contact hours of nursing continuing professional development from CLS by Barbri that they may be able to use to fulfill continuing education requirements

Woodwords Services

Children’s Behavioral Health Services is vital to Maine’s children with Intellectual Disabilities, Autism, and Mental Health Disorders and their families. The need in our area is great!

We are excited to connect our adult education community with this wonderful ONLINE training program. This online training is Free. The training will prepare you for employment through local social services agencies and school districts.  

The program can be started at any time and finished at your own pace. You will complete 12 online modules and then 3, 4-hour live sessions, including the new ethics and boundaries training. 

Once the modules are completed, participants that do not already possess CPR certification will be required to complete either in-person or blended Child & Adult CPR/FA training. You can take CPR through Adult Education or Woodfords Services. 

The entire training requirements will take about 45 hours. Any individual who will be 18 years of age or older and have a high school diploma or equivalency upon completion of the course may register.
