Repurposed Sweater Mittens

Come create a toasty pair of adult size mittens from a well loved wool or wool blend sweater complete with a fleece liner.  Please bring along a washed sweater, 1/3 yard fleece, fabric and paper scissors, pins, thread to match and a portable working sewing machine if able.  Extra sweaters and fleece will be available for a small fee and a sewing machine is available to share.


SAT/ACT 10/15

This customized course combines our popular ACT and SAT test prep into one low cost price. This course will prepare you for all question types found on both the ACT and SAT using test-taking techniques taught to thousands of college bound students around the world. We will analyze each of the test question areas and give special consideration given to math and verbal refreshers and techniques aimed at relieving test-taking anxiety. You will practice on actual ACT and SAT tests from previous years, and we fully explain and interpret the correct and incorrect answers in an online or live lecture format.

SAT:  Topics include effective word usage, grammar, and reading comprehension for the verbal sections; techniques for the science reasoning section; and basic and advanced math concepts (including fractions, decimals, percentages, ratios, proportions) and algebraic and geometric concepts for the math section.

ACT:  Topics include command of evidence, words in context, information and ideas, rhetoric and synthesis questions for the reading section, expression of ideas, grammar and Standard English conventions for the writing section, essay writing for the optional essay, and basic and advanced math concepts (including fractions, decimals, percentages, ratios, and proportions) and algebraic, geometric, and trigonometric concepts for the math sections.

Requirements: Internet access, e-mail, and Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome web browser.

Serpentine Bracelet

We'll cover different sewing machine feet and what they do, basic monthly maintenance, basic tools for sewing, and finally, how to sew perfectly straight lines.
