Halloween Horror Make-Up

It’s that time of year for all things creepy! With Halloween just around the corner everyone will be preparing their costumes for gatherings and events. Learn how to professionally apply theater grade make-up in this one night Halloween Horror Makeup class! The instructor will work with you to create custom effects tailored to match your costume. In this class you’ll learn some basic and easy techniques on creating special effects makeup; such as scratches, cuts bruises and more! You will also learn how to safely remove any latex creations you make. You'll leave with your own make-up kit so you can recreate what you've learned for any upcoming Halloween parties! Materials fee of $38(cash) payable to instructor at class.
“PLEASE NOTE: Those with a latex allergy should not take this class. This class is most appropriate for people 15 years or older. However, kids under the age of 15 may take the class with an enrolled adult; both the parent/chaperone and child must be enrolled in the class.”
Holiday Log Centerpiece

Celebrate the holiday season with a beautiful centerpiece. Seasonal flowers and plants are housed inside a log planter; opt to add candles. Bring a little of the outdoors inside and set a mood for this special season. When you gather around the dining room table or living room, this elegant centerpiece will enhance the holiday ambiance. Learn something new and get into the holiday spirit! Feel free to bring sentimental ornaments from home to add to your floral creation. Materials fee of $35 is due to instructor at beginning of class; cash only please.
Holiday Luminaries: Adult Clay Night

Create a ceramic luminary for your family to enjoy during the season of light! Students will be shown step-by-step how to hand-build and embellish a luminary with holiday-themed imagery. Luminaries will be made to hold an LED candle or tea light. Students will also have the opportunity to glaze their piece before it is fired. A $12 materials fee (cash only please) is due to the instructor at the beginning of class.
Intermediate Screen Printing

Prerequisite: must have taken Screen Printing for Beginners or had private screen printing instruction at Arts Afire Studio. Welcome back to the studio! We will build on techniques covered in the intro class and learn new, more complex processes + applications of this versatile medium! Including: split-fountain pulls, splatter mono-printing, stop-out mono-printing, screen-printing with collagraphs, and multi-layer images/registrations (please, no more than 3 layers). Bring your kits from home and refill them. Please arrived with a prepared image(s) and an "image plan"; how you'd like to break your image up into multiple layers. Learn to throw more complex forms such as jars, vases, and teapots on the potter’s wheel, or explore your own project of interest in collaboration with the instructor. Students should have prior throwing experience. Tools and materials will be provided for this class. Students may bring their own tools, aprons/art clothes, and a hand sized towel. Materials fee of $36 (cash only please) due to instructor at first class. Materials fee covers all glazes, slips and 25 lb bag of clay.
Intro to Modern Watercolor

Get your feet wet in modern watercolor like you see on Instagram. Learn what paints, brushes, and papers to use, and we'll experiment with strokes and create a small floral work suitable for framing. A $15 materials fee payable to instructor night of first class.
Knitting Basics 11/4

Ideal for beginning knitters or those who'd like to refresh their skills after a long absence. Casting on, ending a project and learning how to repair mistakes will be covered, as well as mastery of the basic knit and purl stitches, which are the foundation of all knitting. All levels of ability are welcome! Bring size 7 knitting needles, 1 Supersaver Red heart yarn (7 ounces) -a light color, 1 small pair of scissors and a tape measure. First session would be slippers or mittens. No class 11/11.
Level 5: Fleece Mittens with Elastic

Experience sewing with fleece by making a pair of warm mittens for yourself or someone you love. You will learn to insert elastic into the mittens, keeping them snug. Bring to class two fleece fabrics (1/3 yard each) or one fleece fabric and one minky type fabric for a super soft and snuggly lining.
