Advanced Paralegal Certificate


with Center for Legal Studies

These advanced topics build upon the nationally acclaimed Paralegal Certificate Course© offered by over 100 colleges and universities nationwide. These classes are available to students who wish to extensively build upon their knowledge of law and paralegal studies with classes in specialized facets of contemporary law. Your study and concentration on substantively specific materials will enable you to gain a strong competitive edge over other paralegals. The additional training gained through participation in these advanced classes will embellish your legal knowledge and skills, which in turn should increase your salary and marketability.

*Those who successfully complete at least six advanced topics will be awarded a Certificate of Completion.

Completing both the Core Requirements and the Advanced Requirements of the Paralegal Certificate Program provides comprehensive training and skills that should enable graduates to work in the quickly-growing paralegal profession. The two parts in combination have been designed to meet the requirements of the California Business and Professional Code §6450, legislation that took effect in California on 1/1/01.

Certified Group Exercise & Personal Trainer

Year round online course, open enrollment. 

Start a new career as a Group Fitness Instructor!  Lead any type of group exercise program.  Includes CPR and First Aid Certifications.  Work in any type of fitness facility (assisted living and colleges, childrens or kids' sports).  If you are looking to change one life at a time and work closely with a client, this is a great career.

This program is designed to teach you everything you need to know to enter the health and fitness field as a group fitness instructor and/or personal trainer.  Our trainers are highly recognized in this field and will provide you hands-on training to pass the national tests through AFAA.  The program is all-inclusive.  You may choose to complete both group fitness and personal training, or choose just one.  Lectures are once a week for 10 or 20 weeks. The cost is $1500 for each or $3000 for both.  This fee includes all materials including the National Certification Exams.

Paralegal Certificate

Paralegalism is one of the fastest growing careers in the country with an annual average salary of $44,480 (more if you freelance). Learn to interview witnesses, investigate complex fact patterns, research the law, prepare legal documents, and assist in preparing cases for courtroom litigation. The instruction is practice-oriented, specific to those areas of law in which paralegals are in demand.  Books: $521


Victim Advocacy Certificate

Become a victim advocate for domestic violence shelters, crisis centers and hotlines, and to assist crime victims in the criminal justice system. Learn legal terminology, legal process, victims’ rights, jurisdiction and venue, ethics, effects on the victim, victim advocacy skills, guardianships and crisis intervention. We’ll also cover counseling skills for victims of assault, battery, robbery, domestic violence, sexual assault, child abuse, murder and homicide.  Books: $60

ASL American Sign Language

This class is designed to be onsite only.

ASL One is fun! Designed for beginners and those who took ASL many years ago. Learn basic vocabulary for introduction, colors, food, family and basic directions. Not required, but an ASL dictionary is helpful. New vocabulary and assignment/activities will be handed out each class.

You have an Instant Pot collecting dust under the counter, and it’s time to get a crash course in how to change your life! No need to bring your Instant Pot to class, but feel free if you’d like to do so. Margie will show you how to make several dishes, and will also provide tips, tricks, and resources. Dinner included! (Please advise of any dietary restrictions.) Cost of class includes food fee. Class will be held at the Nasson Community Center Kitchen



Mandated Reporter Training

From Kids Free to Grow via Zoom

Education for a wide variety of professionals and non-professionals working with children. The training increases awareness around the laws regarding reporting, how to report and why it is important to do so. This is a certificate training valid for 4 years.
